If you’ve been on social media recently, you’ve most likely noticed the campaign #Imstillfarming. The grassroots effort tries to connect producers with each other, since many of us are staying closer to home than typical because of the current Stay Home, Stay Safe orders in all three states. Plus, as Bailey Peters with the Washington Farm Bureau pointed out, it’s also an opportunity for the non-farm community to see that despite the pandemic, food and fiber production continues.

“Are they tilling their fields?  Are their kids now working with them?  What happened to those 4-H and FFA projects?  Are the kids still working on those? And so we can really capture every single spectrum of agriculture through this #ImStillFarming.”

Peters said through the end of the month, they’ll use that hashtag during a video competition. She said they’re asking producers, how are you still farming?  Shoot a video, submit it on your own platform and tag the Washington Farm Bureau. Those videos will be eligible for cash prizes.

But, most of all, Peters says these videos will show that Washington farmers are still hard at work.

“There’s no food shortage, and there’s an abundance of people who are excited to keep providing food and fiber for our state and our communities.”
