It’s bad enough hitting an animal with your car.  But being charged after the accident?

An Oregon woman will have to foot the bill after crashing into a herd of cows.  KTVZ-TV in Bend reported Ardis Cox was driving through the small community of Alfalfa recently when she came over a hill and ran into the herd.  She told the TV station her Chevy SUV was destroyed but she wasn't hurt and neither was her husband.  Three cows died in the accident.

Now, she’s been ordered to pay for the dead bovines.  Oregon's "open range" law makes a person responsible if they crash into a cow, because the animals are allowed to freely roam in certain areas.
