The USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service has released the numbers for winter wheat production and prices for June 1st comparing this year and last.

Dramatic declines in both production and price with Idaho, Oregon and Washington seeing acres harvested and total production in 2017 when compared to 2016. That decline becomes more understandable when prices for winter wheat dropped 60 cents per bushel in Idaho, 72 cents per bushel in Oregon and 73 cents per bushel in Washington.

The report did note several commodities were experiencing declines in prices, such as barley in Idaho and Oregon, fresh apples in Washington, and alfalfa in Oregon and Washington. The biggest price jump was in dry edible beans in Idaho which was up from $25.40 per hundredweight to $33.30 per.
