The Continental U.S. has seen a flip-flop in weather patterns which has resulted in the West going from above normal temperature wise to cool temps with precipitation.

USDA Meteorologist Brad Rippey said it’s making an impact.

“We’ve already seen appreciable drought relief in places like Montana which had gone months without much if any rain and now we’re finally seeing some significant shower activity moving into the Pacific Northwest as well.”

The beneficiaries could winter wheat growers according to Rippey.

“Great news for folks who have been planting winter wheat in dusty or dry conditions.”

Rain could slow down planting in some areas, but with the dry ground it should soak up pretty quickly.
