Washington’s Apple License Plate Celebrates Five Years
In 2020, Washington’s tree fruit industry joined the state Legislature to create the Washington apple license plate. The Washington Apple Education Foundation said the plate not only represents industry pride but also fuels the future of its next generation.
"The Washington apple plate is more than just a symbol; it’s a commitment to education, community, and the economic strength of our state," WAEF noted.
Since the launch of the Washington apple license plate, every purchase and renewal contribute $28 directly to WAEF, helping fund scholarships for students from tree fruit industry families. To date, the plate has raised over $142,000, allowing hundreds of students to pursue higher education, build careers, and give back to their communities.
WAEF noted over the five years of the apple plate, it has had a big impact on the tree fruit community in a variety of ways:
- Student Success Stories – The plate has helped fund scholarships and beyond the scholarship support, allowing students from tree fruit industry families to pursue higher education and achieve their dreams.
- Industry Champions – Growers, packers, and supporters proudly display their plates, demonstrating their commitment to the future of the industry.
- By the Numbers – Over $142,000 has been raised so far, directly benefiting students and their educational journeys.
- Advocacy – Supporters across the state continue to showcase their plates, reinforcing the importance of Washington’s tree fruit industry.
