Washington tree fruit growers may have a new opportunity to offset the cost of replacing or upgrading diesel equipment.

The Washington Department of Ecology is offering competitive grants through its Diesel Reduction Combined Funding Program.  The funding can help eligible public and private fleets replace or upgrade medium- and heavy-duty diesel vehicles and equipment, including transitions to zero-emission alternatives.

For apple, pear and cherry growers, that could mean financial assistance when replacing eligible diesel-powered equipment used in orchard and farm operations.  Growers considering equipment upgrades are encouraged to review Ecology’s eligibility requirements and application process.
