Thousands of Washington Blue Jackets filled Beasley Coliseum on the Washington State University Campus this weekend to wrap up the 88th state convention.  The extended weekend saw higher schoolers from across the state, showing off their skills, the judging abilities, and giving back to the Palouse community.  Washington state FFA Executive Director Abbie DeMeerleer said once again Convention was a big success.

“The intentionality that this year’s team put into what they wanted to create here, what was a success.  They wanted energy they wanted purpose they wanted connection in all of the components, whether it was the stage, the service, the competitions, they wanted all of it to have that feel of energy, and I think they brought it, and I think the members in Washington state brought it and felt it.”

The weekend concluded with the announcement of the 2018-19 state leadership team, which includes:

  • State President: Sadie Aronson, White River
  • State Vice President: Trevor Schmitt, Chiawana
  • State Treasurer: Kyle Johnson, Yelm

What kind of growth does DeMeerleer want to see from this state Officer team between now a May 2019?

“Six individuals who right now are individuals, that grow together as a team, that grow forward as individuals, and an association that continues to grow and vision forward.”
