Now that Washington State University’s graduation ceremonies are behind us, the city of Pullman can focus on the Blue Jackets.  The 88th Washington FFA State Convention gets underway this week on the WSU campus, May 10th through 12th.  Abbie DeMeerleer with Washington FFA says the have several sessions at the basketball arena that are very energetic.

“And we have about 2,200 students in Beasley Coliseum during those sessions, so you can imagine, high school students getting to celebrate things they’ve been working hard on, the energy is just plapable.  And then we have about 3,000 people all around convention in total that helping us judge, that are helping us with community service projects.”

DeMeerler added Washington’s FFA students prove the future of the ag industry is in good hands.

“They rise to the occasion, they constantly show us that they are more than so many people think, that they are consummate professional, and they’re learning how to be better professionals.  So, when they graduated they are ready to hit the ground running.”

Whether that’s to a trade school, two-year or four-year school or whatever’s next, DMeerleer says these students are ready to be the next generation of leaders.

DeMeerleer says those interested in attending, but have not signed up can stop by the Cougar Lounge in Beasley Coliseum during the Convention to register.
