WAEF Smashes Donate a Bin Record

The Washington Apple Education Foundation announced the final total for the 2016 version of their Donate a Bin fundraiser Tuesday at the Hort Expo.

Executive Director Jennifer Witherbee said they had never seen such a response.

“This year we raised just over $30,000 in our Donate a Bin promotion and just are so, so excited about the impact that will make for students.”

Last year the fundraiser brought in about $10,000 which, at the time, was a record.

Witherbee said this is just another example of the heart of the industry and who tree fruit growers are.

“They are an incredibly generous group of people that care about the future and they care about their communities and they look for ways to be able to make a difference.”

The money will be used to provide support for students who receive scholarships through WAEF.
