Researchers from WSU and OSU will be hosting a vineyard scouting workshop in Milton-Freewater at the Seven Hills Vineyard on Wednesday, May 4th.

Danielle Gabriel with the Oregon Wine Research Institute says they want to help producers manage their crops better.

“To provide growers with basic skills on how to identify some of the most common problems that occur in their vineyard.”

Gabriel says most of their modules don’t change with topics including powdery mildew, spray calibration and more, but they do have some information that will be targeted towards local growers.

This is fifth year of the workshop and it continues to grow as more vineyard owners participate. Gabriel noted that it,  “Gives you an opportunity to interact with researchers that don’t make it out to that area often and they’re there to answer your questions and serve you. It’s a great time to both network with them and other growers in the area, and learn something.”

The workshop runs from 8:30 until 2:30 with registration due by April 27th.
