The Washington State Tree Fruit Association is holding two cleaning and sanitation workshops July 20th and 21st.

Director of Education and Member Services Jacqui Gordon Nunez said they will go over having an effective cleaning system, something she calls critical.

“An outbreak may end up costing significant losses to the whole industry. That’s why it’s essential for the cleaning and sanitation crews to understand the importance of good food safety practices, clean equipment and proper use of personal protective equipment.”

And for consumers, Nunez said they want to provide assurances that food is safe.

“A cleaning and sanitation program is essential to preventing foodborne illnesses. We don’t want to have outbreaks anymore. We don’t want to become ill from what we eat.”

Anyone with more questions about the topics in the workshop, or registration can contact Nunez through the Washington State Tree Fruit Association office.
