Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack recently presented four major food nutrition and security goals of the Biden Administration as well as the USDA for the next four years.

"I think first and foremost we obviously have to modernize our nutrition security and food security system, and our assistance program. Second goal is to expand the availability and consumption of healthier more nutritious food, for our children for families that are financially stressed and for socially disadvantaged individuals. Third, I think it's important for us to do a better job of educating consumers across that board about healthy choices that they CAN make."

Vilsack added the fourth goal stems from supply chain disruptions during the pandemic.

"The need for our food system to be able to transition more quickly from 50% of our food being consumed at food service operations to the way food service operations are disrupted to quickly shift to our food assistance programs."
