
Cattle Reported Several Gains Late Last Week
Last week, 1,000 head of cattle were traded in the Washington Sale Barn. The USDA’s Greg Sanders has more of today’s Livestock Grain and Poultry Market News from Moses Lake, WA.
“Stock earning feeder cattle were steady in light tests," Sanders said. "Feeder cattle futures closed Thursday with gains of $1.25 to $2.85 on the session. The CME feeder cattle index was back up $1.53 on September 9 at $328.96. Slaughter cows were $2 to $8 lower, slaughter bulls were weak in a light test. Feeder steers, medium-large frame 1 and 2s, 600-650 pounds sold for $3.44-$3.65, while 650-700 pounds sold for $3.40. Feeder heifers, medium-large frame 1 and 2s, 550-600 pounds sold for $2.95 and 500-550 pounds sold from $3.15-$3.39. Dairy slaughtered cows on the boning utility sold from $152.50-$158, and slaughtered bulls yield grade 1 and 2 sold from $1.80-$189.50.”
