NW Spring Wheat Harvest Nearly Complete
Spring wheat harvest continues at a very healthy clip nationwide; a trend we’ve seen throughout the 2026 season.
“Already 86% of the spring wheat harvested by September 6th, ahead of the five-year average of 83% and last year's 83%," noted USDA meteorologist Brad Rippey. "South Dakota, the first state to complete harvest in 2026, 100% complete, five-year average 97%. The state with the most spring wheat still in the field is Montana, one quarter left to harvest there.”
Meanwhile, the Northwest continues to close in on completion of the spring wheat harvest. As of Sunday, September 6th, 95% of Idaho’s crop has been harvested, well ahead of the five-year average of 83%. And for Washington, also, 95% harvested, which is ahead of the Evergreen state’s five-year average of 91% for this time of year.
