University of Idaho Soil Judging Team Tops In The West
Congratulations to the University of Idaho’s soil judging team, which recently placed 1st at this year’s Mountain West regional collegiate soils contest. This was the first regional win for the team since 2008.
“We actually had a freshman from Culver, OR, Tegan Macy, who's studying crop science, who placed first overall in the individual contest," said the University’s Dr. Matt Doumit, Associate Dean of Academic Programs.
Doumit noted the team is made up not only of College of Ag students but a variety of young people from across the campus. He added the Mountain West win is just the first step for the Vandals.
“The team so it's a really a a pretty comprehensive soil judging contest and we're awfully proud of those students, and look forward to following them as they compete in the national collegiate soils judging contest which will be hosted by Oklahoma State this spring.”
