Sams Leaving OSU

Oregon State University College of Agricultural Sciences is searching for a new dean, after Alan Sams announced he will leave Corvallis this month. After serving as the dean for three years, Sams announced to faculty and staff in February he was leaving OSU for Texas A&M University where he will serve as Vice President for operational innovation. Sams served a professor at Texas A&M’s college of Ag before arriving in Corvallis back in 2018.
Ed Feser, OSU provost and executive vice president, says the school will appoint an interim dean and start a national search for Sams' replacement.
Under Sams' leadership, enrollment at OSU’s College of Ag increased 13%, while graduation rates improved and grant-funded research hit an all-time high. OSU runs 14 experiment stations across the state.
