Rollins: How Can We Incentivize Greater Growth In Rural America?
On Tuesday, Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins offered a preview of programs USDA plans on rolling out, or updating, to strengthen rural America.
“In the coming weeks, we will be unveiling a new initiative to work with our federal, state and local partners to develop this bold new strategy to revive our rural communities.”
Rollins speaking before the National Association of Counties in Washington, D.C., noted that one focus of the initiative is improved efficiency and effectiveness of USDA Rural Development programs.
“We are carefully considering how we can improve programs to incentivize greater growth, and in some ways, to get government out of the way to ensure that happens.”
Rollins added with greater collaboration with the public sector and from state and local stakeholders in developing innovative solutions to meet world needs.
“Encouraging innovative solutions such as satellite Internet, new and better healthcare options. Excellent childcare in schools and bringing housing to rural America.”
