Earlier this summer, Envu unveiled its new Return on Investment Calculator, a tool designed to help landowners see the cost benefits of using herbicide to manage their rangeland and pastures.  Craig Hossfeld with Envu said while it is another great tool in the toolbox, the ROI Calculator will help ranchers change the way they do business.

“It's like I said, it's a capital investment, not just looking at spraying weeds.  And so, they really do want to get outside of that “way we've done it in the past” [thinking]," Hossfeld said.  "But in order to feel comfortable with something like that, you need to dive into the specific numbers on your ranch.  And so, this tool just allows you to get that extra level of comfort to be able to dive into this investment full force.”

ROI Calculator Will Allow Ranchers To Run Scenarios

The new ROI Calculator allows ranchers to see how much money and time they can save by increasing forage availability, reducing grazing strain and increasing production using different herbicides, such as Rejuvra and Invora.  Hossfeld added one of the best features of the ROI calculator is the ability to allow ranchers to run a variety of scenarios.

“So, you're sitting down and looking at your budget for the year and you're trying to figure out, maybe you've got an operating loan, you're trying to figure out exactly what you can do with the money you've got," he said.  "And this allows you to look at treating different numbers of acres or looking at optimistic or conservative scenarios on what you think you're going to get out of one of these herbicide treatments. That will really allow a landowner to sit down maybe with the family, maybe with the board, maybe with the bank and look at some different ways of handling this investment and making sure that they're spending their money wisely because it is such a limited resource that we have as ranchers and landowners right now.”
