VANE, a leading provider of specialty agricultural insurance, is expanding its agricultural risk management portfolio to offer insurance coverage for agricultural financing and lending institutions.

“We focus on providing products to the agribusiness community that provides products and services to farmers," said Don Preusser, founder and president of VANE.  "So, if you think about how farmers have the federal crop insurance program to protect their revenues, the agribusinesses that provide products and services to those farmers are at risk of losing their revenue as well if that farmer either doesn't plant a crop, they have to replant it, or they lose it somewhere during the production cycle. So, we provided an insurance solution, sort of a crop insurance solution for agribusinesses.”

Farmers protect their revenue and balance sheet from weather events with crop insurance.

"Unfortunately, they have not had a solution available to them to protect their revenues and balance sheet," Preusser said.  "Thus, VANE was created to provide a crop insurance-like policy to protect those agribusinesses for their revenues, just like a farmer protects their revenues with the federal crop insurance program.”

He added VANE covers a broad section of the agribusiness community.

"Everything from someone who plants crops, so a custom planter. It could be a custom harvester. We cover any of the seed and input providers. We cover ag retailers, processors, and essentially anyone who's in that value chain where they are providing those products and services to the farmer. So, we can write a customized solution to fit each one of those segments and have many of them in our portfolio today.”

Agribusiness are invited to reach out and see if VANE can help protect their futures. Preusser encouraged producers to visit the VANE Website to about their products and identify the different segments.

"We have use cases and other information that can help the agribusiness determine whether one of these products might fit them well. We can also give them a very quick, high-level indication of what their exposure might be. Then, through further dialog, we can do a much deeper analysis for them, again, at no cost or obligation."
