A change in the crop insurance world was announced last week.  Producers Ag Insurance Group, announced plans to purchase crop managing general agent International Ag Insurance Solutions.  In 2016, the Iowa-based company managed $67.4 million in gross premiums for multi-peril crop, crop hail and named peril crop insurance.

Kendall Jones, ProAg’s executive vice president and chief operating officer, says the acquisition will allow the company to expand its product offerings while improving customer support.  ProAg is based in Amarillo, TX, with seven offices and 400 employees that supply crop insurance in 41 states. The transaction is subject to a number of closing conditions and is expected to be finalized by April 3, 2017.
