It's been about a year since Sonny Purdue took the helm of the Agriculture Department, and from day one, he's had this one goal.

"We want to simply be the most efficient, the most effective, the most customer-focused agency in the Federal government," Perdue said recently.

earlier this month, he told everybody at USDA that their customers and others may not remember what you say, not much of what you do,

"But they really will remember how you made them feel. And we want our customers to feel valued, we want them to feel appreciated, and we want them to feel like they are the customer and we are the servant," Perdue said.  "That's really what public service is about."

He said USDA is updating its technology and its way of doing business as it looks for ways to better meet the needs of its customers.
