Oregon State University’s Department of Food Science and Technology will restart its Farm 2 Fork, Paths to Sustainable Food Systems webinar series July 16th. Assistant Professor of Practice Sheri Cole said the program started in October to talk about how food systems work and how they’re changing.

“Our goal is to connect the people who are interested in food. Food is a common denominator in everyone’s lives whether they work in the industry or are interested in making food more sustainable or they just want to understand more about what OSU is doing related to these topics.”

The July 16th webinar will focus on the dairy and cheese industry and why some are successful and others aren’t. Cole said the pandemic brought a lot of attention to food systems and they wanted to help lead the change and they wanted to have a series that covered a variety of topics.

“Reflect the complexity of how our food systems work. For us, sustainable food manufacturing spans all pillars of sustainability whether it’s environmental, health, social equity, and certainly the long-term financial viability for people who are making food.”

The series was originally designed as graduates and within the extension community, but they are hoping to expand it for anyone interested in sustainable food systems around the world.
