OSU’s Beaver Classic Creamery Opens Its Doors
It was an exciting weekend for fans of both ice cream and Oregon State University, as the Beaver Classic Creamery held its grand opening on Friday.
“It's not just the Creamery. We're also opening a new winery, a new retail store where we'll be selling student-made products," said OSU’s Lisbeth Goddik. "And we also have a new and improved teaching facility for food science classes. So, it's a large project. The animal and Rangeland Sciences Department will also get new. New labs, new offices and new teaching facilities."
Goddik noted the Creamery is part of the multi-million dollar renovation of Withycombe Hall. She added this renovation will help contribute to the student experience, now and into the future, but this will also be a great destination for visitors of the Corvallis campus.
“There's a great big viewing window from the ice cream store into the Creamery, so you can watch from the from there and see how ice cream is actually being made, how cheese is being made," Goddik pointed out. "So, that really adds to really spreading the message on how our food products being made and specifically dairy products.”
Starting Monday April 14th, the Creamery will have its normal business hours. Goddik said donations by Tillamook County Creamery Association, the Oregon Dairy Council and AgWest Farm Credit made this project a possibility.
