The 17th Annual Oregon Small Farms Conference takes place February 18th, but for those looking to save some money can register prior to January 25th for a pre-registration discount of $25.

OSU Director for Small Farms Garry Stephenson said they offer many different tracks to help a wide variety of producers.

“We have farmers who can specialize in growing crops for global trade and also we have farmers that can specialize in national markets, regional markets and local markets. There’s a place for everyone.”

Workshops will include dryland farming, organic weed control, specialty crops, agritourism, record-keeping and much more.

Stephenson is also excited to bring their featured speaker Ben Hartman, author of “The Lean Farm” to discuss efficiency.

“The benefit to the farmers who attend this is that we focus on it in two different ways; we bring in the science-y sort of people to update the farmers on what’s happening there, but we also deal a lot with the farmer experience of it as well.”
