USDA continues to expand its SNAP online pilot program with the addition of Kentucky, Missouri, and Texas

"We’ve expanded new flexibilities innovative programs to make sure Americans across the country have access to safe and nutritious food during this national emergency," said Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue.

USDA Deputy Secretary, Brandon Lipps said the program allows SNAP recipients to use benefits on-line, for ordering and payment at retailers such as Amazon, WalMart, and other grocery stores.

Lipps noted he SNAP Online Pilot Program is currently operational in six states, including Washington, Oregon and Idaho, while seven more jurisdictions were recently approved. And USDA’s Food and Nutrition service continues to welcome more applications.

"But that responsibility is ultimately on the state agency, their third party processor, and any retailers who wish to participate to take the necessary steps to prepare for implementation," Lipps continued. "To ease that process NASS put together a simpler template for states who wish to join the online pilot."
