As we move into Day Four of our 2019 Northwest Farm Credit Services Quarterly Commodity Snapshot, we turn our attention to wheat and hay.  Northwest Farm Credit Services’ Bill Perry said they predict slightly profitable returns for small grain producers in the coming year.

“USDA projects the 2018-19 all-wheat price will be between $5.10 and $5.20 per bushel. Northwest FCS predicts this price should allow slightly profitable returns for producers.”

Meanwhile, when it comes to hay growers, Perry said NWFCS’ 12-month outlook suggests alfalfa and timothy hay producers will see a slight profit.

“Low supplies across the Northwest are setting the stage for strong profitability in 2019,” Perry noted.

Join us Friday as we wrap up our week-long series with the row crops.
