According to the latest numbers from NASS, on farm hay stocks fell 12% year-over-year across the Northwest.

As of May 1st, 2021, on farm hay stocks in Idaho totaled 410,000 tons, down 16% from 2020 numbers. Those numbers represent 8% of 2020 production. Meanwhile disappearance from December 1st, 2020 was 2.1 million tons.

On farm hay stocks in Oregon totaled 290,000 tons, down 27% from 2020. May 1st stocks are 10% of 2020 production, while disappearance from December 1st totaled 1.3 million tons.

Washington on farm hay stocks totaled 220,000 tons up 38% from last year. May 1st stocks represent 8% of last year’s production. Disappearance from December 1st, 2020 totaled 880,000 tons.

On farm hay stocks nationwide totaled 18.0 million tons, down 12% from a year ago. May 1st stocks are 14% of 2020 production, which disappearance from December 1st totaled 66.0 million tons.
