The USDA is reminding Northwest nursery growers the final day to apply for crop insurance coverage is May 1st.  If you already have a policy, and wish to make changes, you need to have those recorded by May 1.  Growers applying for the first time may purchase coverage at any time.  The USDA says crop insurance is critical to the farm safety net, proving producers and owners various methods to mitigate production and revenue risks and helps to maintain a healthy rural economy.

To learn more about the insurance options, or to apply, visit RMA's Nursery Policy Web page.

All applications, including those for new or amended coverage, are subject to a 30-day waiting period before coverage begins. Coverage begins 30 days after receipt of a signed application, a Plant Inventory Value Report for each insured practice, and two copies of the grower’s most recent wholesale catalog or price list.
