According to NASS, Northwest hay stocks are off 29% year-over-year.

 

As of May 1st Washington on-farm hay stocks totaled 290,000 tons up 26% percent from last year. May 1st stocks represent 10% of 2018 production. Disappearance from December 1st was down 810,000 tons.

 

In Oregon, on-farm hay stocks totaled 170,000 tons, down 47 percent from 2018.  Stocks as of May 1st are 6% of 2018’s production.  Disappearance from December 1, 2018 totaled down 1.5 million tons.

 

Idaho reported 400,000 tons of hay, which is off 39% from last year.  Those stocks represent 8% of last year’s production.  Disappearance from December 1st was down 2.0 million tons.

 

Hay stocks stored on U.S. farms totaled 14.9 million tons, down 3% from a year ago.  May 1st stocks are 12% of 2018 production. Disappearance from December 1, 2018 totaled down 64.1 million tons.
