The National Farmers Union is praising President Trump’s stance and decisions regarding the renewable fuel standard and how it can help the U.S. economy.

NFU President Roger Johnson said the boon has been felt strongly in the farm and rural economies.

“It is important for his administration to build a positive record on renewables and provide much-needed certainty to the industry.”

President Trump wrote a letter to the National Ethanol Conference indicating that he wants to work with the industry to remove what he deems as unnecessary regulations and burdens.

Johnson said that would provide the industry something it sorely needs.

“While the RFS has provided tremendous gains for the renewables industry, as well as family farmers and rural communities, it has been surrounded by uncertainty.”

Johnson urged continued work with President Trump and his administration to change and improve the RFS and the biofuel industry.
