NASS is out with the latest dryland crop numbers for the Northwest.

 

Oregon winter wheat production is forecast at 38.3 million bushels, down 1% from last month, and off 12% year-over-year.  Yield is expected to be 54 bushels per acre, down 9 bushels from 2017 figures.  Washington winter wheat production is forecast at 125 million bushels, up 4% from last month, and up 4% from last year.  Yield in Washington is expected to be 76 bushels per acres, which is 3 bushels per acre higher than last year.  As far as Idaho is concerned, winter wheat production is forecast at 59 million bushels, down 4% from last month, but up 10% year-over year.

 

Turning to spring wheat, Oregon production is forecast at 3.47 million bushels, down 25% from last year.  The yield is expected to come in a 55 bushels per acre, down 8 bushels from last year.  Meanwhile Washington spring wheat production is forecast at 21.4 million bushels, down 3% from 2017.  Idaho spring wheat production is forecast at 35.7 million bushels, up 1% from last year.  With the yield expected to be 86.0 bushels per acre, unchanged from last year.

 

Barley production in Washington is down 6% year over year, while Idaho production is up 1%.  When it comes to oats, Oregon production is expected to be down 7% this year, while Idaho’s oat production is up 20%.
