NASS released its latest acres plant estimates on Friday.

 

Winter wheat acres planted in Idaho are estimated at 730,000 acres, up 10,000 acres from last year. Harvested area is forecast at 680,000 acres, unchanged from 2018. In Oregon, acres planted to winter wheat are estimated at 740,000 acres, up 20,000 acres from the previous year. Acres to be harvested are forecast at 730,000 acres, up 5% from 2018. Acres planted to winter wheat in Washington are estimated at 1.70 million acres, unchanged from last year. Harvested area is forecast at 1.66 million acres, up 1% from 2018. Nationally, winter wheat acres planted totaled 31.8 million acres, down 2% from last year. Harvested area is expected to total 24.9 million acres, up 1% from 2018.

 

Spring wheat acres planted in Idaho and Washington is up 2% from 2018. Idaho spring wheat planted acres increased from 460,000 acres in 2018 to 480,000 acres in 2019. Washington spring wheat planted acres at 520,000 acres, was unchanged from 2018.

 

Corn acres planted for all purposes in Idaho are estimated at 340,000 acres, down 20,000 acres from 2018. Corn harvested for grain area is forecast at 110,000 acres, down 19% from 2018. In Oregon, acres planted to corn for all purposes are estimated at 100,000 acres, up 20,000 acres from 2018. Acres to be harvested for grain are forecast at 65,000 acres, up 44% from the previous year. Acres planted to corn for all purposes in Washington are estimated at 160,000 acres, down 5,000 acres from 2018. Corn harvested for grain acres are forecast at 80,000 acres, down 6% from the previous year.

 

All hay harvested area in Idaho is expected to total 1.26 million acres, down 6% from 2018. In Oregon, all hay harvested area is estimated at 1.05 million acres, up 5% from last year. All hay harvested area in Washington is expected to total 680,000 acres, down 11% from the previous year. In the United States, all hay harvested area is estimated at 52.8 million acres, down slightly from last year.

 

All potato acres planted in Idaho are estimated at 315,000 acres, unchanged from the previous year. Harvested area, at 315,000 acres, is also unchanged from the previous year. In Oregon, growers planted an estimated 45,000 acres of potatoes, down 1000 acres from last year. Harvested area, at 45,000 acres, is also down 1,000 acres from last year. Washington growers planted an estimated 165,000 acres of potatoes, unchanged from the previous year. Harvested area, at 165,000 acres, is unchanged from 2018.
