Dairy Producers interested in participating in the improved Margin Protection Program, you have until the end of today.  The USDA has extended the deadline for producers to enroll two times.  The original deadline was June 1st, and then to the 8th, at which time, 500 additional producers enrolled.  So, with that kind of interest and with it being such a busy time for producers, officials decided to extend things again.  At last count, roughly half the producers in the U.S. have enrolled in MPP.

"We've already made payments, $92 million has already gone out to dairy producers that were signed up, and we're processing another $100 million in payments literally as we speak,"said FSA's Richard Fordyce.

Fordyce says for this extension, though, just getting on your local office's register is not going to be enough.  The whole sign-up process has to be complete by the close of business today.
