Last week, Oregon State University’s Board unanimously approved the appointment of its next President.  Dr. Jayathi Murthy said she’s excited for this opportunity.

“I know I’m joining the right university at the right time. OSU embodies everything that I think a great university should be. And I believe in the power of education to transform lives. I believe deeply in public higher ed.”

Murthy also thanked interim President Becky Johnson, and former President Ed Ray for their leadership.  She added she’s looking forward to the future.

“I believe fervently that the work that we do must have relevance in the world, that we must live in the world and be of it, and that we must leave the world a better place than we found it.”

Murthy comes from UCLA’s School of Engineering.  She’ll will take over in Corvallis on September 9th, becoming OSU’s 16th President.
