When looking at the May 2025 Dairy Production and Price Forecast, as well as the initial outlook for the 2026 calendar year, higher production is the name of the game.

“Mainly driven by increased cow inventories, but also some growth in milk per cow as well,” said World Agricultural Outlook Board Chair Mark Jekanowski.

He added next year's projected milk production to be up 600 million year-over-year.  Skim solid dairy exports are expected up in 2026, as well as increased domestic use both this year and next.  When it comes to the dairy price forecast.

“2025 all milk price forecast was raised by 50 cents cwt. It's now at $21.60 cwt,” he said.

Jekanowski added that’s based on observed price strength, while the all milk price for next year was lowered 45 cents to $21.15 cwt, based on increased production.
