Harper Named to Oregon Board of Ag
On Thursday, Governor Kate Brown today announced the appointment of Bryan Harper to the Oregon Board of Agriculture. Harper, a hazelnut producer from Junction City, will serve a four-year term, effective October 11th.
“Bryan is an active member of the south Willamette Valley community and brings a fresh perspective to the Board of Agriculture,” Governor Kate Brown said. “He has a keen understanding of Oregon’s agricultural economy as a fifth-generation Oregon farmer, and I appreciate his willingness to serve.”
The 10-member board advises the Oregon Department of Agriculture on policy issues, develops recommendations on key agricultural matters, and provides advocacy of Oregon’s agriculture industry. The Board of Agriculture also issues a biennial report on the status of Oregon's agriculture industry to the Governor and Legislative Assembly.
In addition to managing Harper Farms Inc., Harper serves as a volunteer member of the Lane County Farm Bureau Board of Directors. Harper is a graduate and former student athlete from the University of Oregon.
