As we look ahead to 2018, Todd Fryhover says the year ahead looks very promising.  The President of The Washington Apple Commission says there is a lot of uncertainty on the international scene, not only with tariffs announced by China, but the ongoing NAFTA renegotiation.  Fryhover noted that there is still time to get an updated NAFTA hammered out in the coming weeks.

“I think all three countries want a positive outcome and it appears that the media is portraying that as being very positive.”

According to the Washington State Tree Fruit Association, Washington exported nearly $282 million dollars of apples to Mexico, and another $117 million to Canada during the 2016-17 season.  Both of those figures were a drop from the 2014-15 season.
