For the first time in nine years, Washington State University Extension will hold a Forest and Range Owners Field Day in Southeast Washington.  Saturday’s event runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Cougar Canyon near Dayton.  WSU Extension Forestry Educator Andy Perleberg said there are a few reasons to hold these field days.

“We help to introduce land owners to fundamental and also emerging issues.  But also, we help to unite the participants with the products, services that can help them accomplish their management needs.”

In addition to forest health and safety, the field day will focus on wildlife habitat, grazing, soils, conflict resolution and much more.  Perleberg said about 90% of the people that attend these field days, its their first experience with an organized outreach like this, and most appreciate the networking opportunity.

“It really serves to help people get connected or become engaged in deeper types of educational programs”
