It’s a phrase used so often, and in so many situations, it can become white noise.  But, if tree fruit growers are going to enjoy a successful 2026 season, start to finish, they need to follow the science.

Stephanie Zelinko, National Agronomist with AgroLiquid said that science starts with a soil test, which she said is vital in determining the proper fertility program for each orchard.  She added at AgroLiquid, they focus on making that plan, or any plan, customizable and affordable.

“Especially when you deal with times where prices may be higher for inputs than you're used to, you have to be more intelligent and smart with where you're going to spend those dollars," Zelinko said.  "So, it's looking at what that crop needs and then how much those nutrients cost and then utilizing those dollars in the best manner.”

Being Proactive Will Help This Spring

Zelinko noted they have a large toolbox at AgroLiquid, and can meet a host of needs Northwest growers will encounter.  But she added for AgroLiquid, it’s important that growers have a positive experience, and see a good ROI.

“So, we're always looking at what those nutrient responses are, again, understanding that science, and then making sure that they're comfortable starting with a budget and working way through that whole entire season.”

Reach Out To Local Experts

When it comes to the season ahead, Zelinko noted as growers prepare to put applications out this spring, it’s important to work with someone that understands the soil, and can determine the specific nutrients needed for a successful year.
