The Columbia Basin Development League is currently fundraising to create a 7-8 minute film that will showcase the Columbia Basin Project and how it impacts the region.

Executive Director Vicky Scharlau said there are many who are third or fourth generation descendants who don’t have the tie or memory of why the project is happening.

“A visual is what we determined to be the best approach to try to tell the story of the Columbia Basin Project both short term, what’s happening now, but also where the Columbia Basin Project needs to go in the future.”

The goal is to educate as many people and engage and inspire them to find out more about the project and what it could mean.

And a film can do far more than a study, or an article according to Scharlau.

“Take that seven or eight minutes on film and have a transformative effect that sheds the real light we need on an issue that really no other medium can do it like a piece of film can.”
