The 52nd Annual Conference of the Columbia Basin Development League takes place on Thursday, November 3rd covering topics like supply forecast, financing the next projects and more.

Sara Cornell said most of the issues surrounding the Columbia Basin Project are complex and this provides them a forum to communicate.

“One of the goals of our conference is to try to dissect those issues a little bit and present some information that is simplified and understandable and remains fact based and current so that folks can walk away feeling like they have a better handle on what’s going on.”

The evening will capped off by a dinner reception and keynote speaker Gary Chandler from the Association of Washington Businesses.

Cornell said they want to keep people informed because the Columbia River is so vital to the economy, whether it’s farming, food processing or one of the business that relies on those employees for their livelihood.

“The Columbia Basin Project is, essentially, the reason for the economic vitality that exists in the Columbia Basin today. It makes possible over $4 billion in cumulative economic activities contributed to the state’s economy each year.”

On-site registration for the event begins at 12:15 at the ATEC building at Big Bend Community College in Moses Lake, and Cornell said that anyone interested in dinner should come around that time to purchase tickets.
