The U.S. House of Representatives passed their version of the Water Infrastructure Improvement for the Nation Act, or WIN Act, last week.

Dan Newhouse said there the bill contains some new authority for the Department of the Interior and Bureau of Reclamation to expedite future surface water storage projects.

“I’m hopeful that this language will be exactly what we need to move forward on some of the important projects, for instance in the Columbia Basin, the Yakima Basin. Things that are very significant to our area.”

The next step is for the Senate to pass the bill.
