Corn Condition Improving Nationwide, Great in Northwest

Corn in the three Northwestern states is in better shape than it is nationwide.

Washington has 83 percent at good to excellent, Oregon at 79 percent. Idaho is at a whopping 97 percent.

USDA Meteorologist Brad Rippey said nationally corn is not looking as good as last year, but it is improving.

“The crop is now rated at 62 percent good to excellent. That’s up two points from a week ago. It’s 12 percent very poor to poor, that is down a point.”

Only five percent of corn in Oregon and four percent in Washington is rated as very poor to poor.
