
Chobani Announces Expansion of Twin Falls Facility
Last week, Chobani announced a 500,000 square foot expansion of its Twin Falls, ID plant, which company officials say will increase production by 50%.
“It is for a new innovation in the protein area, which we're extremely excited about. It is an expansion for us into a new technology and a new product segment that category around protein in the U.S. is growing dramatically," said Kevin Burns President and COO of Chobani. "It'll be about a $500 million investment. We will continue to be engaged and extend our engagement in the Community. We will continue to invest in training and development.”
Burns added this expansion will allow the company to continue to raise the level of technical skills of employees, allowing the company to remain competitive. He added the great talent pool found in Idaho is one of the reasons he feels the company will enjoys success into the future.
“This isn't just an opportunity to celebrate the expansion of this incredibly wonderful business that is in our community here in the Magic Valley, but this business and its people team help so many other parts of this community," said Idaho Senator Mike Crapo.
Already the largest natural food production facility in the U.S., the expanded Twin Falls plant will span 1.6 million square feet when compete and feature 24 production lines. Company officials add the plant will employ more than 1,200 people, earning wages almost 12% higher than the regional average.
