Cattle Producers To Look At NEPA

Cattle producers from across the west coast will be in Portland Thursday and Friday, holding industry meetings.  One of the big topics to be discussed, is the effort to modernize and streamline the National Environmental Policy Act, NEPA.  Jerome Rosa, executive Director of the Oregon Cattlemen’s Association told the Washington Ag Network many federal agencies are using NEPA documents that are out of date, and they are looking to make the process easier on producers and ag groups.

“These NEPA documents that are really difficult and require a lot of time and money to get done now.  And we’re looking to see if there are some suggestions from the industry on ways to try to streamline those efforts.”

NEPA has been on the books since 1970, and it has been used as a template for environmental laws in 100 nations around the world.
