We’re still weeks away from the Senate holding confirmation hearing on USDA Secretary nominee Sonny Perdue.  DC insiders say it could be mid to late February before Perdue hearing goes before the Senate.  Washington’s Maria Cantwell says she hasn’t had a chance to speak with Perdue, but she’s looking forward to learning how he help Washington agriculture.

 

“Particularly what they’re going to do to make sure we can get a workforce here.  Being from a southern state they have been some of the people who have made it challenging for us.  So I want to see what his commitment is.”

 

Secretary of Ag was the final cabinet position selected by the Trump transition team.
