A record amount of grain was shipped through Oregon and Washington by BNSF the company announced last week.

The primary products were corn, wheat, soybeans and soybean meal, sorghum, peas, lentils, and DDG.

More than 300,000 railcars ended their journeys at Northwest ports which resulted in nearly $3.5 billion worth of investments in the area.

Area ports were responsible for about 30 percent of all the wheat, corn and soybeans exported by the U.S. in 2016.
