Blueberry Prices Could Feel Crunch of Large International Crop

The USDA’s Economic Research Service has released their forecast for the 2017 blueberry crop and noted that some of the biggest impacts are coming from significant increases in crop production in Chile and Mexico.

Domestically prices dropped but some adverse growing conditions in the Southeastern U.S. could help steady prices as well as increasing domestic demand which reached a record high in 2016.

The ERS says the earliest harvesting states are Florida, Georgia and others in the Southeast and those are underway now. So the good news is that there will be a lot of blueberries to be eating very soon.
