April 2020 Set To Go Down As One Of The Driest On Record

A little over a week remains in the month, but if the current weather pattern hold, April 2020 will go down as one of the driest on record for many locations across the Inland Northwest.

“There’s only been trace amounts in Wenatchee, and Yakima, to only a few hundredths across the Tri-Cities and Pendleton area, to around 0.3” around Pullman, and they’re actually one of the higher precipitation areas,” said National Weather Service meteorologist Marilyn Lohmann

Lohmann noted with the last significant rain event for much of the Inland Northwest in March, most soil moisture readings are already in drought levels. And she does not anticipate that will change anytime soon. The area is expected to see a weak system roll through Wednesday into Thursday, bringing between 0.1”-0.25” of rain.

But for the rest of the month and into May, Lohmann calls for at or above normal temperatures, with slightly less than typical.
