According to the U.S. apple Association, total apples in storage on May 1st dropped 13% from 2018.  According to the survey, this year’s fresh apple holdings last week, totaled 38.6 million bushels, 13% percent less than the inventories reported for May 1 of last year.  Processing holdings totaled 15.9 million bushels, a 14% year-over-year decrease.

 

Not only was the number of apples in storage off from last year’s mark of 62.7 million bushels, it’s 2% below the five-year average.
